I am currently scheduling appointments out of my office in Staatsburg, NY. Please contact me to arrange an appointment.

I offer three types of services: myofascial release, therapeutic touch, and integrative massage.

Myofascial Release (MFR)

MFR initial consultation:

All MFR work starts with an initial session that includes a physical analysis and discussion of your intentions and goals (approximately 15 minutes), then 60 minutes of bodywork.

  Initial consultation (75 minutes): $115

MFR packages:

Because the effects of this work are cumulative, following the initial consultation, it can be helpful to schedule a few sessions in close proximity to each other and then follow up when it feels appropriate to do so. Packages are an easy way to do this. All packages include 60-minute treatment sessions.

  3-session MFR package: $280

  5-session MFR package: $460

  10-session MFR package: $900

(packages expire one year after date of purchase)

Description of Services

I am a student of the John Barnes approach of myofascial release. Myofascial release is a form of bodywork that specifically addresses the fascial system of the body, which is the connective tissue web that interweaves the entire body, down to (and inside) the cellular level. The fascial system is a fascinating, still under-researched bodily system. Not only do fascia completely permeate the body, supporting and creating space for every cell; scientists are beginning to appreciate the fascial system as a fiber optic continuum enabling coordinated communication of the entire body. Fascial restrictions, which arise because of any type of trauma or surgery, are therefore believed to cause any number of physical, emotional and mental symptoms, because these can be viewed as interruptions in the normal flow of consciousness. While many types of therapies separately label and treat symptoms that arise from fascial restrictions, the intention of the myofascial release approach is to ease the fascial restrictions themselves. Because of its structure, the fascial system responds to relatively gentle, sustained pressure. In a myofascial release session, you can expect a discussion of your goals and a physical evaluation, and hands-on techniques that generally involve long holds using gentle sustained pressure applied to areas of the body associated with or related to your symptoms. For your appointment, please wear shorts and a tank top or sports bra, or a two-piece bathing suit, and make sure your body is clean and dry before the session, as these techniques involve no lubricants. If you are interested in receiving this work because you have a specific goal in mind, it is recommended that you book a block of sessions in relatively close proximity to each other, then follow up as needed.

I also offer a form of energy work called therapeutic touch. This technique involves clearing one's energy field and adding energy to that system. My intention in this work is to support the energetic blueprint that is the basis for the physical form of the body. This technique can be very effective in grounding one's awareness back in one's body if one has a tendency to dissociate. Therapeutic touch is a good adjunct to myofascial release, or can be performed by itself. It is a deeply relaxing, calming, soothing, and gentle experience.

Finally, I offer integrative massage. In this type of session, I focus on Swedish massage, shiatsu, or Reiki, or I can combine these techniques. When you come for your appointment, we will briefly discuss your goals, and I will design a session that addresses your intentions. If the session involves Swedish techniques, you may undress to your level of comfort, and massage is performed through a drape or on undraped areas. Lubricants (generally organic jojoba oil) are typically used during Swedish sessions, so please let me know if you have any allergies/sensitivities. If your session involves entirely shiatsu or energy work, those techniques are performed through clothing.
